We’ve created this immersive experience that awakens fantasies. We’ll build a custom package based on your site, your needs and your selection from our catalogue below. We are flexible to your presentation constraints: we always love a creation challenge. Part of our work is usually done In Situ, so every proposition is unique. We aim at fully invading and transforming a space to create the impression of being transported in another world.
Exploring we have embraced alternate universes is common in works of fiction, but the idea is now becoming more respectable among scientists. ‘’Kanata’’ is an alternative version of ‘Earth’’ in another universe. The planet is now sterile and Humanity and Life itself are on the brink of extinction. With this fantasy world we want to project the public into a possible apocalyptic future and open various reflexions on man’s actions, impact on climate change and place in the earth eco-system.
Discover The World of Kanata, come meet the gatekeepers and their mysterious artefacts. This new series of installations immerses the Attendee into another world upon arrival and provides him with an opportunity to participate in the adventure. There are a multitude of ways to go through the experience which is intended as an interactive dream and sends an urgent message in the face of man’s action on climate change.
THE STORY OF KANATA – A CONCEPT OF AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE
Kanata was once a dreamfull utopia with a version of Humanity similar to planet Earth. The people of Kanata dedicated themselves to technology and progress, but like Earthers, neglected the role of nature in their planet balance. Eventually, they were overcrowded in population and exhausted most of their planet’s natural resources. Life on Kanata became very difficult, yet there was still hope. They had each other, music, arts, love. As they explored other planets in their system, they realised that none other could host human life. They thought human life had come to an end but then something happened.
After a terrible accident, Atargatis, one of the survivors, had most of her body replaced by robotic parts. Atargatis kept evolving, she built herself a bio-electric shell and later merged her mind with a powerful AI.
A few years later, she started dreaming of a portal that could allow them to travel further, faster and extend their research. With the help of the ‘’Last Druid of Kanata’’ they finally built a strange bio-machine named ILLUSIO. With a small group of people, the Gatekeepers, they made the first jump having no idea what they would find on the other side. It seemed like they were still on Kanata, but a different version of it. They later understood they had just travelled through dimension and had arrived on EARTH. Since the first opening of Illusio, there is a strong link between both dimensions . Their existence are now interconnected. Saving human life on Kanata is saving humankind on Earth from a dark future.
We, The Gatekeepers have been studying this phenomenon for many years . Illusio is attracted by clusters of vital energy on Earth, and can only be open for a few days at the time. Those clusters are often located where there are big gatherings with positive vibrations. When the portal opens, we (The gatekeepers) perform sacred rituals to activate the ‘’Catalyst’’, an artefact that boosts, duplicates and harvests the energy available, which is then redistributed to both dimensions. The only way to activate it, is for humans from both dimensions to dance with each other. The goal is to keep the portal open as long as we can, to gather as most energy as possible.
During its last known openings on Earth, in Mexico’s Jungle in 2019 (Bahidorá Carnival), and in Montréal in 2014 (Bain Mathieu) Illusio captured just enough energy to extend our existence for a while and power-up the portal for its next opening. Each and every time the portal is opened, some mutated vegetation, strange animals and artifacts appear as they cross over from the other dimension. This is one of the unexpected side effects…. as if you could see both our worlds merging for a while. You might even experience a blink of what’s life on Kanata, a world close to death. Where will ILLUSIO open next? The Gatekeepers need your help…

Il s’agi d’une série d’expériences immersives, oeuvres, installations, performances et artefacts qui questionne la place des arts dans la sensibilisation aux questions écologiques et vise à :
Membre d’une génération embarquée dans le train rapide d’une croissance économique globalisée, dont la destination est désormais incertaine, comment le créateur (et la créatrice) vit-il et perçoit-il les conséquences environnementales d’un tel modèle qui génère des déchets humains dont la disposition fait problème ?
Le contexte actuel invite à une nouvelle réflexion sur ces questions environnementales. Comment garder espoir en 2020 ? Comment garder espoir en 2020 ? Pour certains, protéger la biodiversité et l’environnement constitue une cause perdue, exigeant une réorganisation sociétale sans précédent. L’objectif peut sembler bien utopique. Un lourd poids à porter pour la collectivité et l’individu. Pourquoi et comment continuer à créer dans ce contexte ?
Le projet vise non seulement à attirer l’attention sur les impacts désastreux de l’humain sur l’environnement, mais invite aussi à réfléchir sur ce que signifie faire partie d’une espèce qui joue un tel rôle sur son environnement. Une espèce qui s’est souvent totalement déconnectée de la nature et dont certaines actions contribuent à l’extinction totale d’espèces végétales et animales.
Mais si la sensibilisation aux changements climatiques se popularise, elle suscite un sentiment d’anxiété, de douleur, de chagrin, et engendre une terrible frustration : celle de ne pas pouvoir agir en tant qu’individu. La question est alors de savoir : «Où et comment trouver de l’espoir?»

Comment garder espoir lorsque l’on prend conscience de l’impact limité de chacun ? Nous avons voulu explorer ici ce phénomène que nous traversons en tant qu’humain. On observe une croissance populationnelle sans précédent et une accélération de notre capacité de communiquer et pourtant, nous sommes plus isolés que jamais et déconnectés de nos environnements. Y a-t-il encore espoir de trouver un équilibre et de se reconnecter avec l’autre et avec la nature ? En tant qu’artiste quel est notre rôle, comment évoluer dans un monde qui peine à questionner ses modèles, ses pratiques, son empreinte ?
Hope hurts, and feels at times pointless, yet we have to keep doing it. No individual will bend the emissions curve alone. No writer, modelling team, no forest firefighter, no environmental lawyer will carry the day. But if you’re looking for hope, there might be a space in constructing something together – in responsive hope. No single coral restoration programme will heal the wounds inflicted on reefs around the world, but perhaps networks offer a way forward. Nous voulons présenter des œuvres qui illustrent et invitent à la réflexion, à la recherche de vérités alternatives, à une meilleure connaissance et compréhension de notre environnement permettant ainsi de renouveler notre capacité de nous émerveiller et de rêver à des solutions alternatives.
